It might have to be. Eu countries have been on the move for quite a while now, but the question is whether or not this will result in more or less movement of people in the future.
The biggest question is whether or not anyone will be interested in the idea of relocating the entire continent of Europe to a single digital map. What Europe looks like as a world map in the future might be very different from what it did when it moved to the modern map we have today.
The question is not whether or not we will get Eu people moving in the future. It is whether or not we will get them moving to the most convenient location for them to live. It might just be that we have already reached that point in time.
Open street maps are a great invention for those who like cartography, and for those who like the idea of a single authoritative map that covers the entire planet. While the map we have now covers only a very small part of the globe, the idea that we can now move a continent to another map and leave the countries we don’t live in alone, might well be the most liberating concept of all.
It’s not a new concept, of course, but it’s been used to great effect lately. Think about it. Think of the map of the United States as it’s been used since the 19th century. The US is represented by a single, authoritative, map that covers the entire country. There are a few other countries that are represented as such, but these represent only a few thousand square miles. The idea of having this single map, with all the countries and states, is revolutionary.
It is revolutionary. Just like the single map is. In fact, it’s the perfect solution for the problem of multiple maps, the “Great American Map”. By having the United States (and Europe, if you prefer) represented by a single map, we can more easily get to all of our destinations without having to use the dreaded “Google Map” or “Foursquare.
We haven’t had a lot of time to make changes yet with our current map, but we’re currently considering making the country-state map that’s currently being proposed, the “World States”, more like the United States, Europe, and Asia. This will allow users to easily get to any state in the world, and the map will be much easier for users to navigate and update.
